ISLAMABAD: Donald Blome, US Ambassador to Pakistan, on Wednesday appreciated the valuable contributions of the Pakistani diaspora and the private sector at the US Agency for International Development (USAID) conference, organized for building back better for flood-hit communities in Pakistan.
The US government had pledged over $200 million to assist flood relief and recovery operations, food security, and disaster resilience while the Pakistani diaspora had contributed about 42 million dollars, the ambassador said.
Pak-US partnership
The ambassador emphasized the historic US-Pakistan partnership to advance Pakistan’s economic development as well as social and humanitarian causes.
He stressed the need for strengthening climate resilience through the bilateral “Green Alliance” framework and expressed the US commitment to assisting the Pakistani diaspora and Pakistan-based private companies in finding opportunities.
He also emphasized the need of strengthening climate resilience, foster economic growth, and pursue energy transformation, and development outcomes. –APP
