WASHINGTON: US regulators have filed a case against Amazon, accusing the digital giant is unlawfully maintaining monopoly power, Western media reported on Tuesday.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, Amazon uses “a set of interlinking monopolistic and partial strategies” to push up prices and stifle competition. In a statement, Amazon termed the lawsuit as wrong.  It is the latest digital giant to be sued by the regulators in the US.

The FTC’s boss, Lina Khan said that Amazon has moved toward monopoly. In February the US regulators lost their try to prevent Meta from buying the VR firm whole in July and also failed to prevent Microsoft from completing its agreement to purchase the manufacturer of Call of Duty.

FTC and 17 state attorneys said that Amazon is a “monopolist” that prevents sellers and rivals from lowering prices.
