LAHORE, Pakistan: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 witnessed its first high-scoring thriller as Australia pulled off a record chase of 352 against England at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The victory propelled Australia to second place in Group B, while England now face a tough road ahead to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

England, batting first, posted a mammoth 351-8, thanks to Ben Duckett’s record-breaking 165 off 143 balls. Joe Root added a steady 68, but England failed to capitalise fully on a strong start.

In response, Australia found themselves in trouble at 136-4 before Josh Inglis (120* off 86 balls) and Alex Carey (69 off 63) turned the game around with a stunning 146-run partnership.

In Group B, South Africa sit on top after their commanding 107-run victory over Afghanistan, with Australia moving into second place following their thrilling win over England.
