Unity Among Muslims Stressed at Int’l Confab to Counter anti-Islam Conspiracies

MAKKAH: Speakers at an international conference in Makkah have stressed the need for enhanced interaction, integration and stronger partnerships in Islamic countries to achieve unity among Muslims, Arab media reported on Monday.

About 150 Islamic scholars and thinkers from 85 countries participated in the two-day conference themed “communication and integration.” Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance organized the event.

The conference highlighted the efforts of Saudi Arabia towards Islam and to promote the values of moderation.

The participants during a conference presented research articles in seven sessions on different topics.

The topics were promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence, moderation in the Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah, combating extremism and terrorism, and protecting society from atheism.

The participants in the final communique of the conference emphasized strengthening unity in the Muslim world.

They said Muslims have to adhere to Qur’an and Sunnah with a correct understanding. The recommendations also highlighted the importance of regulating fatwas in accordance with the Shariah.

Participants also recommended taking practical steps to counter conspiracies against Islam and showcasing true values of tolerance, compassion and justice.

They said extremist groups have distorted true Islam, divided societies and spread chaos.

The final communique strongly condemned the repeated acts of burning copies of the Holy Qur’an saying such actions incited hatred, racism, and are against human values.
