UNDP Resident Representative Calls on Pakistan’s Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD: UNDP Resident Representative Dr. Samuel Rizk called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar at Finance Division here in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Tariq Mehmood Pasha, SAPM on Revenue, Ammara Durrani, Assistant resident representative UNDP, Special Secretary Finance, and top officers from Finance Division were present in the meeting, according to a press release.

Dar welcomed Dr Samuel Rizk and shared the economic outlook of the country and the steps taken by the government to achieve growth and economic stability.

He said that the government has introduced reforms in different sectors to tackle persistent outstanding structural problems with a special focus on inclusive and sustainable growth.

Dr. Samuel Rizk talked about the current institutional arrangements by UNDP regarding Climate Resilient Pakistan and rehabilitation measures in flood-hit areas.

The UNDP delegation further extended support to the government in climate financing for development and mobilizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) investments.

Pakistan’s Finance Minister Appreciates UNDP’s Role

Ishaq Dar lauded the important role of UNDP as a development partner in assisting Pakistan to achieve the fast-track SDG and reiterated the commitment of the government to the achievement of these goals.

He also commended UNDP for mobilizing global support for rehabilitation work in flood-hit areas in Pakistan.
