LAHORE: A 15-year-old housemaid, Rizwana, who was allegedly subjected to brutal torture by the wife of a civil judge in Islamabad, was discharged from hospital after full recovery.
The underage housemaid Rizwana remained admitted at Lahore General Hospital for more than four months and underwent several surgeries to heal her injuries.
After getting discharged from the hospital, she reached the Child Protection Bureau. The underage domestic helper expressed her happiness after wound recovery and said she would pursue her studies.
She was admitted to General Hospital Lahore in critical condition after Somia, the wife of a civil judge, Asim Hafeez, allegedly tortured her after blaming her for stealing gold jewelry.
Decision to Discharge Rizwana from Hospital
The decision regarding discharging the minor housemaid from the hospital was taken after the checkup by provincial health minister Dr Akram Javed.
The family of Rizwana thanked the interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other authorities for providing her with the best medical facilities.
It is to be mentioned here that Somia Asim is currently on bail in the minor maid torture case.
In September, a district and session court in Islamabad ordered the release of Somia Asim.
Judge Muhammad Haroon announced the reserved ruling and accepted the post-arrest bail plea against surety bonds worth 0.1 million rupees.
