During the visit, UNRWA’s Deputy Commissioner General Leni Stenseth said: “The devastation and destruction I saw was shocking. Many homes were entirely burned down; vehicles had been crumpled against walls, and roads were destroyed”.

She added, “I saw the trauma in the eyes of people who had witnessed the recent wave of violence. I heard them speak about their tiredness and fear,”.

Similarly, the UNRWA health center at the camp was also damaged during the Israeli offensive.

Adam Bouloukos, director of UNRWA affairs in the West Bank, said: “Kids were shocked and shaken. Students attended school today, as they were too afraid to leave their houses”.

“Students shared with us that a few days ago, they had buried their classmate who was killed in the military assault”.

Arab News reported that the Jenin camp has witnessed an extreme wave of violence over the last two years, with this year being volatile.

UNRWA officials added they want to help restore a sense of normalcy by resuming services, including health, education, and sanitation. Another vital priority was to deliver economic help to affected families.
