UN Says Gaza Witnessing ‘Unparalleled Human Disaster’

GAZA: Israel’s attacks on the Gaza have led to an “unparalleled human disaster” in the Palestinian territory, the UN said on Sunday.

Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner general of UNRWA said that not one grain of wheat, not one drop of water, not a liter of fuel has been permitted in Gaza Strip for the last 8 days.

“Raise the alarm that as of today, my colleagues in Gaza can no longer deliver humanitarian help as I speak,” the commissioner general of UNRWA said.

He added that in fact, the Gaza strip is being strangled and it seems the conflict right now has lost its mortality. He added that Gaza is running out of water and even it is running out of life.

Over 2,670 people have been martyred in Gaza in a blistering air attack launched by Israel last week following Hamas conducted an operation in Israel.

About 1 million people have been displaced in the first 7 days of the war in Gaza, UNRWA stated earlier on Sunday.

UNRWA director of communications Juliette Touma expressed fear that the number may increase as people continue to leave their houses.
