NEW YORK: The United Nations said nearly 81% of all structures in the Gaza Strip have been damaged amid relentless Israeli bombardment that has continued for over two years.
The figure comes from a new satellite assessment by the UN Satellite Center, cited by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq told reporters in New York on Monday that while aid delivery “is having a positive impact,” the humanitarian scale-up remains far below what’s needed to meet Gaza’s immense needs.
According to the UN analysis, more than 123,000 buildings across Gaza have been destroyed, 50,000 are severely or moderately damaged, and another 24,000 are possibly damaged.
Northern Gaza suffered the heaviest toll since July 2025, with nearly 5,700 new structures affected.
Limited Recovery and Education Efforts

Despite the devastation, efforts are underway to restore basic services. “Renovation work is ongoing in four schools,” Haq said, adding that five temporary learning spaces were reopened in Gaza City over the past three days with UN support.
The conflict has killed over 68,000 Palestinians since Israel began its military campaign in October 2023. Although a ceasefire agreement was reached on October 10 under a 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, Israel has violated the truce multiple times, according to UN officials and aid workers.
