MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has emphasized that resolving the Kashmir dispute is essential to establishing lasting peace and prosperity in the South Asian region.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the AJK Prime Minister expressed that both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and Kashmiris around the world marked India’s Independence Day as a black day, symbolizing their protest against India’s unlawful and forceful occupation of their homeland.
He reiterated the Kashmiri people’s steadfast refusal to accept India’s illicit authority over their territory, demonstrating their resilience to the occupation. The Prime Minister conveyed his deep concerns regarding the prolonged conflict that has adversely affected the lives of the Kashmiris.
Kashmir Dispute Central to South Asian Peace
Highlighting the unfortunate reality that the Kashmir dispute has remained on the United Nations’ agenda for several decades, the PM stressed that the fate of the Kashmiri nation has been in limbo for the past seventy-six years.
Addressing the gravity of the protracted conflict, he urged the United Nations to take tangible actions towards implementing its resolutions on Kashmir. Despite India’s various oppressive tactics, the Prime Minister observed that the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination, endorsed by the global community, persists undeterred.
Describing the Kashmir issue as internationally recognized, he emphasized that the unilateral actions taken by the Indian government since August 5, 2019, cannot alter the disputed nature of the Kashmir conflict. He affirmed the determination of the Kashmiri people to continue their freedom struggle from India’s occupation until their cherished goal is achieved.
