ISLAMABAD: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, urged the United Nations and other international human rights organizations on Tuesday to grant the people of Kashmir and Palestine their right of self-determination to establish a lasting peace.
During an interview with a news channel, she drew attention to the distressing situation of Hurriyat leaders and activists who are illegally detained in various prisons in India and the occupied territory. She also emphasized that Kashmiri detainees are enduring harsh treatment while in custody.
Mushaal further disclosed that the Indian government intends to execute Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, who has been detained in New Delhi’s Tihar jail, in December.
She asserted that Indian forces are engaged in severe oppression of the residents of the occupied region and stressed that resolving the Kashmir dispute is not only a must for global peace but also a matter of great importance.
Despite India’s use of brutal force and military tactics to suppress the Kashmiri struggle for freedom, Mushaal noted that the morale of the Kashmiri people remains strong, and they continue to resist these oppressive actions courageously.
Furthermore, she added that India’s actions, including the killing of Kashmiris, appear to be part of a sinister plan to alter the demographic balance in the occupied territory by reducing the Muslim majority to a minority. —APP
