GENEVA: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern on Tuesday over the escalating Israeli brutalities against innocent Palestinians, highlighting the ongoing fierce fighting in Gaza.
In a statement, Guterres outlined the Israeli aggression, which includes ground operations by the Israel Defense Forces accompanied by intense airstrikes on Gaza.
Guterres emphasized the heavy toll on civilians throughout the conflict. He called for the immediate and unconditional release of those held hostage by Hamas.
I am deeply alarmed by the intensification of the conflict between Israel and Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups in Gaza.
With too many Israeli and Palestinian lives already lost, this escalation only increases the immense suffering of civilians.
