KYIV: Six Ukrainian personnel were killed aboard two helicopters while they were “carrying out missions” in the eastern part of the country, the military officials said on Wednesday. Western media reported that there was no sign what occurred involving two Mi-8 helicopters on Tuesday.
Ukrainian Officials Says 6 Personnel Killed in Helicopter Incident
In a statement, the military officials said via social media the troops were “carrying out missions” in the area of the Russian forces held in the eastern city of Bakhmut when the incident occurred.

The military statement confirmed that the personnel were killed in the mishap. The news website Ukrainska Pravda reported the incident took place near Kramatorsk. They maintained that the two helicopters were “totally destroyed” and the dead bodies were found at the site of the incident.
An Air Force spokesperson told public broadcaster Suspilne that the officials aboard were all officers. He further said a service for the troops would take place on Thursday in Poltava, but their identities were not being made public due to security reasons.
