MOSCOW: Ukraine’s armed forces lost about 90,000 military troops killed and wounded during the counter-offensive it launched a few months ago without accomplishing any substantial tactical successes, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Monday.
Shoigu said that despite these losses, the Ukrainian forces had not achieved any notable tactical successes in the field. He stated, ‘Since the commencement of the highly publicized and well-funded Ukrainian counter-offensive on June 4, Kyiv has seen over 90,000 casualties among their military personnel, along with the loss of 600 tanks and almost 1,900 armoured vehicles of various types.’
Furthermore, the Russian defence minister expressed Moscow’s willingness to engage in political discussions aimed at resolving the post-conflict issues related to the Ukraine crisis.
