MOSCOW: President of Russia Vladimir Putin said Thursday that Moscow is targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in response to Kyiv’s actions.
“There is a lot of voice about our crimes against the energy resources of neighboring countries. Yes, we do. But who started this? Who hit the Crimean Bridge? Who blew up the cable at the Kursk nuclear plant? Who stopped the water supply to Donetsk? Cutting off water to a city of one million people is an act of genocide,” Putin said during a meeting with officials nominated for the Hero of Russia state award.
“No one said a single word (of Ukraine’s behavior in Donbass) anywhere, completely full. And as soon as we move, we act in response – noise, chaos, crackling in the whole sky, ” he said.
Putin blames media for ignoring Kyiv’s actions
Russia launched daily attacks on Ukraine after the October 8 explosion at the bridge connecting the Crimean peninsula to the Russian mainland. Moscow accused Kyiv of being behind the attack as the Russian artillery bombarded many parts of Ukraine.
He also says that Ukraine has carried out “massacres” in Donbass eight years ago and one of the reasons for launching a “special military operation” in February was to protect the residents of the eastern region.
