MOSCOW: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said that Ukraine has proposed a non-aggression pact with Belarus.
“On the one hand, they ask us to avoid a fight with Ukraine under any circumstances, not to move our troops there. They offer us to sign a non-aggression agreement,” according to the Belta state news agency, Lukashenko told officials in a meeting in Minsk.
On the other hand, Lukashenko added that Ukraine has been training and arming people to fight Belarus.
Non-aggression pact
He denied any plans for a military operation against Ukraine. “We have enough issues on our perimeter – both on the ground and in airspace,” he stressed.
Lukashenko also took aim at Lithuania and Poland, saying their “completely insane” actions have made it mandatory for Belarus “to respond firmly.”
