KYIV: Ukraine has placed an order for 100 Rosomak multi-purpose armoured vehicles made in Poland under a Finnish license, according to Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The announcement was made during his visit to the Rosomak manufacturing site in Siemianowice Slaskie. The order will be financed through funds received by Poland from the European Union and US funds received by Ukraine. The cost of the contract was not disclosed.
“I bring an order placed by (Ukrainian) Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal for 100 Rosomak armoured vehicles that will be fabricated here,” PM Mateusz Morawiecki said during his visit to the Rosomak manufacturing site in Siemianowice Slaskie.
The United States (US) and its allies have been providing Ukraine with funding and weapons after Russia invaded the pro-Western ex-Soviet neighbour in February last year.
The Rosomak is an 8×8 multi-purpose armoured vehicle manufactured under license from Finland’s Patria. This purchase is part of Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its military capabilities in the face of ongoing tensions with Russia.
Poland receive financing from EU, US for vehicles
The order of the vehicles will be financed through funds that Poland has received from the European Union (EU) and the United States funds that Ukraine has received, Morawiecki said, without providing details or the overall cost of the contract.
