Ukraine Gifted Grenade Launcher That Caused Poland Police HQs Explosion

ISLAMABAD: Poland’s police chief said in a statement that a grenade launcher had been the cause of an explosion that occurred at his office in the police headquarters. The weapon in question was a gift from Ukraine.

In the blast that took place on Wednesday in the Polish capital Warsaw, the police top commander Jaroslaw Szymczyk had to be rushed to hospital.

Szymczyk, while speaking to the broadcaster RMF FM said that he had received two weapons as a Ukrainian gift. He added that while had been moving them into an upright position, the explosion had taken place.

Two grenade launchers received from Ukraine officials as gifts

A source from the Polish delegation had been cited by RMF saying that Szymczyk had received two launchers as presents while visiting the State Emergency Service and the police of Ukraine.

At the time, Ukrainian officials had said the launchers, which the Police delegation took by car to Warsaw by car and placed in the back room of Szymczyk’s office.
