Ukraine Downs Russian Drones in Various Regions

KYIV: On Thursday, Ukraine’s military reported the successful interception of 17 drones deployed by Russia in overnight attacks targeting various regions of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian armed forces disclosed that Russia initiated a series of attacks, deploying a total of 22 drones in multiple waves, aiming at the Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Serhiy Lysak, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, stated that the debris from one of the three drones shot down in the area caused damage to buildings and vehicles and even ignited a grass fire.

Despite the attacks, Lysak confirmed that there were no reported casualties resulting from Russian shelling in the region.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that its air defense systems successfully intercepted several Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk region in western Russia during the early hours of Thursday.

Additionally, Russia announced that it had thwarted an assault on a patrol ship in the Black Sea on the same day, with Russian forces neutralizing five unmanned boats.

Over the territory of Russian-controlled Crimea, the Russian Defense Ministry, via Telegram, announced the destruction of 11 Ukrainian drones.

These developments followed a previous incident where a Ukrainian missile struck a strategically significant shipyard in Crimea, causing injuries to 24 individuals and damaging two ships undergoing repairs.
