KYIV: Ukraine has claimed that Russian drones fell and exploded on Romanian territory during an overnight attack on the Ukrainian port of Izmail.
Western media quoted Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko on Monday as saying that Russian drones fell on Romanian territory. However, Romania has denied such claims.
He said the incident assured during a massive Russian assault near Izmail, located on the Danube River, near Romanian border.
Spokesman for Ukraine State Border Guard Service told media that two detonations had been noted on Romanian territory.
Andriy Demchenko said that they had recorded two detonations on the Romania land near Izmail port.

Russia after quitting an agreement in July permitting the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea has increased attacks on Ukrainian ports.
Romania rejects Russian drones hit its soil
Romania, however, categorically dismissed the reports that Russian drones fell on its soil during the attack.
Romanian defense ministry said Russian Federation poses no direct military threat to Romania’s national territory or territorial waters.
Kyiv has been claiming that the war has spilled over into European states, but NATO and its allies have dismissed such claims.
