SYDNEY: Ukraine’s envoy to Australia on Friday asked tennis officials to ban Novak Djokovic’s father from the Australian Open following he was filmed posing with fans brandishing a flag of Russia.
Ambassador Vasyl Myroshnychenko told the media that it is up to the tennis star and his team to resolve this and fix it.

He also called on Djokovic to personally apologize and to clarify his position on the Russian attack against Ukraine. He added that it is important for Novak Djokovic to address this matter.

The ambassador said that Novak Djokovic should apologize for the matter, and also condemn the Russian attack on Ukraine. He also asked tennis officials to ban Djokovic’s father from the Australian Open after the incident.
A video uploaded to a YouTube account on Thursday showed father of Djokovic posing with a man holding a Russian flag with President Vladimir Putin’s face on it.
