LONDON: Ulster University, situated in Northern Ireland, has announced an award named after senior Pakistani investigative journalist Arshad Sharif, who was brutally murdered under mysterious circumstances in October this year in Kenya.
Ulster University has an international and national reputation for innovation, regional engagement, and excellence. Doctor Colm Murphy, Subject Leader in File, Journalism, and Media at Ulster University’s School of Communication and Media informed about the Arshad Sharif award.
As per details, Ulster University will give an award each year to one of its students to honor the memory of Arshad Sharif memory by giving an award named after him for the best articles produced in investigative journalism. This step was taken to encourage a new generation of journalists.

Arshad Sharif’s name is also added to the Tree of Hope in the Ulster university oratory in Coleraine. The University of Ulster remembers him and his family at this time of the year.
Besides this, Doctor Colm expressed sincere condolences on the tragic death of Arshad Sharif. on behalf of Ulster University’s School of Communication and Media.
Doctor Colm revealed that Arshad Sharif graduated MA 17 years ago in Media Studies from Ulster University’s School of Communication. He added that Ulster University is proud of what he achieved in journalism in Pakistan.
