BIRMINGHAM: In a demonstration of solidarity with the people of Palestine, various freedom-loving groups in the United Kingdom (UK) have issued a call for a protest march set to take place Saturday in Birmingham. The protest is a response to the continued aggression of Israel against the Palestinian population, and it is expected to draw support from various rights groups and organizations.

The call for the demonstration, particularly in London, was jointly made by prominent entities, including the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition, Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, and several other rights groups. The objective of this protest is to raise a collective voice against the injustices faced by the Palestinian people and to extend moral support to them.

Speaking at a news conference, Ceinwen Hilton, a pro-Palestine leader, called on the public to join the demonstration and show their solidarity. She expressed deep concern over the distressing events in Gaza, where ongoing Israeli bombardment has resulted in the loss of thousands of Palestinian lives, with a significant number being children, women, and the elderly.

Ceinwen Hilton emphasized the illegal nature of the actions by Israeli forces, which include the bombardment of Gaza, the disruption of essential supplies such as water, electricity, food, and medical resources, as well as the forced displacement of Palestinians within Gaza. She pointed out that these actions are in violation of international humanitarian law and have garnered support from the UK government and the leader of the Labour Party.

The recent bombing of the al-Ahli Baptist hospital in Gaza, which resulted in a tragic loss of nearly 500 lives, was highlighted as a shocking event that has deeply affected people worldwide. The joint statement by the UK-based groups accused Israel and those supporting it of war crimes and crimes against humanity. They called for an immediate condemnation and cessation of these actions.

The UK-based organizations have invited supporters of the Palestinian cause to join the demonstration in London to express their outrage against Israeli atrocities. Fahim Kayani, leader of Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK, expressed unwavering support from Kashmiris for the Palestinian people. He emphasized the similarities in the struggles faced by both Palestinians and Kashmiris and condemned the support of Western governments for oppressive regimes.

The statement stressed that “from Kashmir to Palestine, occupation is a crime,” highlighting the shared plight of oppressed populations facing injustices and calling for global awareness and action.
