UK Parliament Hosts Conference Strongly Criticizing Indian Supreme Court’s Ruling on IIOJK’s Special Status

LONDON: In response to the Indian Supreme Court’s decision on the special status of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a Kashmir conference was held at the British Parliament House by the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK (British Kashmir movement) on Friday.

Key political and social figures participated at the conference strongly criticized the Indian Supreme Court’s ruling, saying that it effectively legalized the ongoing atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The speakers emphasized the importance of the United Nations taking note of the situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and urged intervention to address the grievances of the Kashmiri people.

During the conference, Paul Bristow, Member of Parliament and a supporter of the Friends of Kashmir, along with Faheem Kayani, Chair of Kashmir Movement UK, denounced the Indian Supreme Court’s decision as extremist and biased. They urged the United Nations to intervene, emphasizing the need for international attention to India’s alleged nefarious intentions.

Prominent figures of the British Parliament present at the conference included Paul Bristow, Steve Baker, Tanmanjeet Singh, Sarah Sarah Owens Philip, Muhammad Yasin, and Imran Ali.

Leaders from Kashmir, including Chaudhry Shaban, Muzammil Thakur, and Gul Charan Singh, condemned the Indian Supreme Court’s decision.

The speakers highlighted the widespread human rights violations by Indian forces and the government in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, expressing disappointment at the biased and political motivated decision by the Supreme Court of India.
