UK, Kyrgyzstan Vow to Enhance Cooperation

LONDON: Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration Ulan Primov has held a meeting with Chair of the Business and Trade Committee of the British House of Commons Liam Byrne in London, local media reported on Saturday.

The delegation of the Parliament, led by Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiyev, paid a visit to the UK for the first time. The heads of Parliamentary Committees have discussed issues of building up bilateral ties and implementing joint investment projects during the meeting.  Primov said that the ties between the two nations have been developing steadily in recent past.

“Bilateral visits have been organized between MPs of the two sides and meetings have been held at global venues., he added. He said that he is confident that this will yield positive outcomes and will contribute to the progress of bilateral ties.

Ulan Primov has emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in the field of investment, and also noted the great chances of Kyrgyzstan in sectors of hydropower, mining, and the green economy.

On the occasion, Liam Byrne, Chair of the Business and Trade Committee said that this historic trip coincided with the consideration of the UK budget in Parliament, saying the importance of political and economic cooperation for both sides.
