LONDON: British Foreign Secretary David Cameron has announced the banning of those responsible for settler violence against Palestinians from entering Britain.
Cameron in a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter said that extremist settlers by targeting and killing Palestinian civilians are undermining security and stability of the area.
He called upon Israel to take stronger action to stop settler violence and hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
He added that Britain is banning those responsible for settler violence from entering the UK to make sure that the country cannot become a home for people who commit such intimidating acts.
It is to be noted that a group of 56 UK legislators representing all major political parties has strongly demanded the banning of violent Israeli settlers from entering into Britain.
In a letter to the government of the UK they also called for banning those who incite settler violence against Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank.
British follows Washington’s travel ban on Israeli extremist settlers
A British ban would follow Washington’s travel ban on Israeli extremist settlers of violence against Palestinian people, imposed on December 5.
Earlier this week European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said he would suggest sanctions against Jewish settlers responsible for violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo had also said that Brussels will work with the United States on sanctions targeting people involved in acts that undermine security, peace, and stability in the occupied West Bank.
Meanwhile the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had said that the State Department was executing a new visa restriction policy targeting people to have been involved in undermining security, peace, or stability in the occupied West Bank.
