LONDON: The United Kingdom (UK) on Saturday denounced the execution of two Iranian citizens, calling on Tehran to stop all executions “immediately.”

Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, 39, and Mohammad Mahdi Karami, 22, were executed early Saturday in Iran in a case linked to the killing of security personnel in late November.

In a statement, the UK Foreign Secretary said the execution is hateful, calling on Tehran to “immediately halt” all executions in the country and end the “violence” against its own citizens.

He said that the United Kingdom is strongly opposed to capital punishment in all conditions and the Iranian government has done further lasting damage to its repute at home and overseas with yet another inconsistent reply to the Iranian people protesting legally against their “oppression,”.
