LONDON: UK charity organization, Action For Humanity has made an appeal for $6.2 million to help victims of recent earthquake in Morocco.
Arab News reported on Sunday that AFH expects to collect enough money to provide immediate assistance to end the suffering of earthquake survivors, and for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the quake hit areas.
Powerful 6.8 earthquake hit Morocco
A powerful 6.8 earthquake hit near Marrakech on Friday, and killed more than 2,100 people while thousands have been injured.
The AFH has activated a specialized emergency response team to give immediate assistance in Marrakech and surrounding affected areas.
The organization said it would conduct evaluation of the situation and start orchestrating a response in coming days.

The specialized teams had already carried out relief activities in Turkiye-Syria earthquake that struck in February.
AFH CEO Othman Moqbel stated that the charity organization is heartbroken to see the scale of devastation caused by the Morocco earthquake. He expressed solidarity with the people of Morocco in this time of pain.
He went on to say they are closely examining the situation and evaluating the needs from the ground. Othman Moqbel said they are ready to support in providing any assistance if asked.
