DUBAI: UAE Princess Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) on Saturday inaugurated the second ‘Al Marmoom: Film Festival in Dubai. The film festival is taking place at the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
The film festival, which will continue till December 11, is hosting 23 workshops and talks and screening 27 films to promote local cinema and nurture regional and homegrown creative talent.
The film festival is aligned with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to strengthen Dubai’s position as an international center for culture, a thriving hub for talent, and an incubator for creativity.

Sheikha Latifa affirmed that the film festival will contribute to the efforts of UAE to develop the emirate’s creative economy and create a vibrant cultural environment.
“The film festival offers a platform for celebrating talent and creativity in the regional and local film industry and supports the production of innovative films that communicate Dubai’s modern ethos and highlight its heritage, customs, and traditions.
The film festival also serves as a platform for emerging film producers to explore the opportunities offered by the growth of Dubai as a hub for film production.”
Companies’ collaboration for film festival

During her tour of the film festival, she was accompanied by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO & MD of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library (MBRL) Foundation, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Education.
The film festival is being held in collaboration with various private and public entities in Dubai: Dubai Municipality, the Roads and Transport Authority, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, The American University in Dubai, the Department of Economy and Tourism, VOX Cinemas, Emirates Airline, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, the Ministry of Education, Careem, Meraas, ‘Proudly from Dubai,’ an initiative of Brand Dubai, Trust Your Water, Weyyak, Zayed University, Nikon, Raindance, Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, Project You, New Media Academy, and GTV.
