DUBAI: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued directives to deliver an urgent US$100 million relief aid to the people of Lebanon, according to WAM news agency.

The statement said that this initiative was part of the UAE’s continuous efforts to support Lebanon via its current challenges, underscoring the country’s unwavering resolve to assisting the people of Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the UN refugee agency chief said on Monday that over 100,000 people have crossed into Syria from Lebanon since a war between Israel and the Hezbollah escalated in the current month.  Filippo Grandi said in a statement via social media that those fleeing included both Syrian and Lebanese nationals.
