UAE President, Dutch PM Discuss Bilateral Relations

ABU DHABI: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Tuesday called on Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to discuss bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The two leaders discussed the economy, investment, culture, technology, education, and science during their meeting in Abu Dhabi. They also talked about sustainable development, renewable energy, and climate change, and said that COP28 which will start in November in Expo City Dubai.

Sheikh Mohamed and Rutte reaffirmed their mutual commitment to achieving a major breakthrough in global climate action. The two exchanged views on a variety of regional and international matters of mutual interest, stressing the importance of working together to promote ideals of harmony, peace, tolerance, and human fraternity.

Sheikh Mohamed affirmed the strength of UAE-Netherlands ties, underlining economic relations in critical sectors such as food security, technology, renewable energy, water, agriculture, and trade.

UAE, Netherlands Oil Trade

He said that non-oil trade exchange between the two nations reached 4.6 billion dollars last year, representing a 7.2% increase over 2021.

Sheikh Mohamed said that the UAE is one of the most important trading partners of the Netherlands, underlining that there are roughly 350 Dutch companies operating in the country.

Rutte extended his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for the warm welcome, stressing his country’s desire to enhance relations with the UAE. He said that the Netherlands and the UAE share many interests, especially in the areas of green economy, renewable energy, sustainable development, food security, and climate action.
