Dubai: The United Arab Emirate’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has said the country was committed to peaceful negotiations and diplomatic engagement to advance the shared goals of stability and regional security.

According to Arab News, the statement came as the ministry revealed it had withdrawn its participation in the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).

“As the result of our ongoing evaluation of effective security cooperation with all allies, the UAE withdrew its participation from the Combined Maritime Forces two months ago,” the statement said.

According to the CMF website, the organisation is a “multinational maritime relationship which exists to uphold the Rules-Based International Order (RBIO) by countering illicit non-state actors on the high seas and promoting stability, security, and prosperity across international waters.”

The UAE’s foreign affairs statement concluded that it remained committed to responsibly ensuring the safety of navigation in its seas by international law.
