ROME: Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto on Tuesday met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Defense Minister Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bowardi in Abu Dhabi.
Italian Defense Ministry said that the visit “marks a new course in reinvigorating and defining the relationship between the UAE and Italy, and the role both states intend to play in the field of peace and security in the region.”
The ministry added: “The Emirati defense minister expressed great willingness and openness toward Italy.”
Both defense ministers pledge renewed engagement
During a long meeting, the defence ministers pledged “renewed engagement” to protect both countries’ mutual interests. They also discussed the security situation in the Middle East.
According to the Italian Defense Ministry, Al-Bowardi and Crosetto share “a common vision on the new challenges in the regional geostrategic scenario.”
On behalf of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Italian minister offered “full cooperation” of Italy with the UAE.
