UAE, France Agree to Enhance Cooperation in Various Sectors

ISLAMABAD: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Thursday to discuss the opportunities to increase bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The two leaders discussed the longstanding strategic partnership between France and the UAE and explored opportunities to further enhance cooperation across various sectors, Arab media reported on Friday.

The French president welcomed UAE President to the Élysée Palace, and said he was pleased for them to meet again in France. Sheikh Mohamed returned the compliment and thanked the French leader for the warm reception.

Firm commitment to increasing cooperation

Both leaders affirmed their deep commitment to further strengthening the nations’ historic relations and discussed ways to increase collaboration in priority areas, including environment, climate change, space, culture, and renewable energy.

Their discussion also covered other sectors central to both nations’ sustainable development ambitions, including economy, food security, investment, and advanced technology. The leaders discussed regional and global developments, with both sides stressing the necessity of promoting peace, stability and cooperation between countries.

They also talked about the upcoming COP28 climate conference, to be hosted by the UAE later this year. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Macron reiterated their shared belief in the importance and potential of joint action. They stated that pursuing collaborative steps to confront climate change was an immediate priority for both nations.
