KARACHI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced its support for the Pakistan People’s Party-led (PPP) Sindh Government in the construction of houses for individuals affected by floods in the province.
The decision was taken during a meeting held in Karachi between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to finalize the housing project in the near future. Both parties also expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral and trade relations between Pakistan and the UAE.
During the discussion, the UAE ambassador informed the Sindh Chief Minister that investors from the UAE are eager to invest in Pakistan. He further stated that the UAE government has been providing all possible assistance to Pakistan as per their commitment, and this support will continue until the complete rehabilitation of the flood victims.
Sindh govt approves fund for construction of houses
Prior to this announcement, the Sindh cabinet had already approved an allocation of Rs 50 billion for the construction of houses damaged during the recent heavy rains and subsequent floods.
Under the plan, each affected homeowner will receive Rs 50,000 to initiate the construction process. Once the construction reaches the plinth level, the remaining amount of Rs 250,000 will be transferred to their bank accounts to complete the housing construction.
The collaboration between the UAE and the Sindh Government aims to address the housing needs of the flood-affected population and contribute to their rehabilitation and recovery.
This support from the UAE underscores the importance of international cooperation in times of crisis and demonstrates the commitment of both nations to assisting those in need.
The partnership between the UAE and Sindh Government is expected to facilitate the timely construction of houses, providing much-needed relief and assistance to those affected by the devastating floods.
