UAE Allocates $5 Million to Support UNRWA’s Reconstruction Efforts in Gaza

ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged $5 million to support the reconstruction efforts of the Gaza Strip through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), reported state news agency (WAM). 

The funding aims to address the challenges posed by significant cuts in UNRWA’s operations. 

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan met with UNRWA’s chief, Sigrid Kaag, and discussed strategies to enhance relief and medical aid delivery to Palestinians. During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan announced $5 million support for the Gaza Strip reconstruction efforts. 

Both sides reviewed ways to tackle the escalating humanitarian crisis and supporting UNRWA’s efforts for Palestinian refugees. 

The UAE minister also urged international collaboration for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, safeguarding civilian lives and facilitating urgent humanitarian relief.
