U.S. Secretary of Defence Receives Saudi Minister of Defence for Talks

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin has received the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Minister of Defence, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, at the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defence in Washington, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.

This meeting is part of Saudi Defence Minister’s official trip to the US.

Upon his arrival at the U.S. Department of Defence headquarters, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz was greeted with an official reception that included a guard of honour and the playing of the national anthems of both nations. Then, the Saudi Defence Minister wrote down a statement in the official visitors’ book on the occasion.

Afterwards, the two sides held official talks, where they reviewed the historical friendship between Riyadh and Washington.

They also reaffirmed the two nations’ strategic partnership in the military and defence fields, discussed means to strengthen and enhance it, and also highlighted the leading regional and global roles of both nations in achieving global peace and security.

Both sides also tackled the latest regional and global developments and the efforts being exerted in accordance with the shared vision of both nations, the SPA reported. In addition, they explored into several matters of mutual interest.

Attending the meeting were the Saudi envoy to the U.S., Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, and Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Saudi and U.S. top officials.
