WASHINGTON, USA: The United States is currently investigating the leak of two highly classified intelligence documents detailing Israel’s preparations for a retaliatory strike on Iran.

According to Reuters, the documents, which began circulating on the Telegram app, appear to have originated from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. They provide insights based on satellite imagery, taken on October 15-16, showing U.S. interpretations of Israeli military planning.

The leaked documents indicate Israel’s response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack on October 1, marking Iran’s second direct strike on Israel in six months. Israel has also escalated military actions in Gaza and Lebanon following the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

House Speaker Mike Johnson acknowledged the leaks during an interview, confirming that an investigation is underway, with intelligence agencies and the Pentagon looking into the matter. The documents, labeled “Israel: Air Force Continues Preparations for Strike on Iran” and “Israel: Defence Forces Continue Key Munitions Preparations and Covert UAV Activity,” outline Israeli activities, including missile handling and drone usage, almost certainly intended for the strike.

While U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed he had knowledge of Israel’s plans, he suggested that there might still be a chance to de-escalate the conflict.
