ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Jawad Sohrab Malik on Tuesday inaugurated AJK’s first-ever Protectorate of Emigrants Offices in Bagh and Rawalakot.
The initiative marks a major milestone in the government’s efforts to facilitate the people of AJK, reflecting the Ministry of OP&HRD’s commitment to effective public service delivery, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development said in a statement.
During the opening ceremony, Jawad Sohrab Malik addressed the general public, sharing his thoughts on the lack of such essential services in the region until now.
The SAPM said that while traveling to Kashmir, it deeply saddened him to think about the absence of a protectorate office for the people of the region. The residents of Bagh and Rawalakot, in particular, faced difficulties, having to travel long hours and spend considerable sums to access these services in Rawalpindi.
He said that it was a historic day as we not only opened one but two protectorate offices in AJK—one in Rawalakot and one in Bagh—significantly benefiting the residents of Kashmir.
Offices to Serve as Beacons of Support
The newly inaugurated offices will serve as beacons of support for legal labor migration, streamlining processes, and providing essential services close to home. The initiative is aimed to reduce the financial and logistical burdens previously borne by the people of the region, facilitating easier access to pre-departure orientation, employment opportunities abroad, and community outreach programs, the statement said.
It said that the forthcoming inauguration of the Capital Protectorate office in Islamabad, along with the establishments in Sukkur and Abbottabad, highlights the government’s dedication to increasing employment opportunities for Pakistanis both domestically and overseas.
Through these efforts, Jawad Sohrab Malik continues to demonstrate his unwavering commitment to reducing unemployment and supporting the national economy through remittances from the overseas migrant workforce, it added.
