ISLAMABAD: In the aftermath of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s arrest following the Islamabad District and Sessions Court’s verdict of ‘corrupt practices’ in the Toshakhana case, two medical boards have been constituted for his medical examination.

The two standby medical boards consist of doctors from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinic Hospital, with the four-member medical board led by Dr. Fareed Allah Shah. The medical board includes experts in medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, and medico-legal and will be responsible for examining PTI chief Imran Khan at regular intervals.

Imran Khan Arrested from Zaman Park Residence

Earlier in the day, Imran Khan was arrested from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore soon after the District and Sessions Court found him guilty of corrupt practices in the Toshakhana case and sentenced him to three years in prison. The verdict stated that Imran Khan deliberately submitted fake details of Toshakhana gifts to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), resulting in his conviction.

Along with the three-year jail sentence, the court imposed a Rs 100,000 fine on the PTI chairman and declared him ineligible to hold public office for five years.

PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed the arrest, and the PTI’s Punjab Chapter confirmed that Imran Khan was being transferred to Attock Port. A large contingent of police was deployed outside the court premises ahead of the proceedings.
