NORTH WAZIRISTAN: In another act of violence against educational institutions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), extremists detonated two girls’ schools in the Mir Ali subdivision of North Waziristan.

After Deputy Commissioner Rehan Gul Khattak acknowledged one of the attacks at the Government Girls Middle School Hafizabad, in the area of Hassu Khel, on Sunday night, the terrorist act came to light on Monday. He said the school’s structure was damaged, but no lives were lost.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer Saleem Riaz stated that there were reports that on Sunday night, two girls’ schools had been destroyed and targeted by explosives. He added that no casualties were reported.

The authorities confirmed this morning that the affected schools were located in the Hassu Khel and Musakki villages of the Mir Ali sub-division. He said that cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act had been registered against these terrorist acts.

Earlier this month, at least eight, including five teachers, were killed in separate firing in Upper Kurram Tehsil.

According to the local police, a teacher was killed in the first incident in Parachinar, the district’s capital, and a city in Upper Kurram, in a moving vehicle.

Separately, four teachers were among the seven people shot by unidentified shooters in the Government High School Tari Mangal staff room. All the teachers were at the building to carry out their exam-related activities.

The district administration claimed the three others killed were drivers who brought materials for construction to the school.
