QUETTA: Two policemen escorting a polio team were shot dead in Quetta, the capital city of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the Nawa Killi area of the provincial capital Quetta where the anti-polio campaign was underway.
The police officials were providing security to the polio teams when some attackers opened fire. The assailants fled the scene after firing.
The rescue team and police reached the spot and transferred the dead bodies to a nearby hospital. The deceased were identified as Constable Syed Muhammad and Shaukat Ali.
Polio Drive
The attack took place on the first day of a week-long drive to inculcate polio drops to approximately 2.6 million children across Balochistan.
