ISLAMABAD/ DONETSK: Two British men have gone missing in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, the Foreign Office said.

Andrew Bagshaw, 48, and Christopher Parry, 28, were in Ukraine to do voluntary work and were last seen on Friday heading to the town of Soledar – a small town near Bakhmut where fighting has been intense recently, the police said.

FO says it is supporting the families of the men

“We are supporting the families of two British men who have gone missing in Ukraine,” said a Ukrainian foreign office spokesperson.

Ukraine’s military said on Monday that it was strengthening its forces in Soledar to try to counter persistent attacks there by Wagner, a Russian mercenary group whose leader has vowed to capture the area’s huge underground mines.

The British Foreign Office has warned against all travel to Ukraine due to attacks on various cities taking place currently, as the Russia-Ukraine war enters its 11th month.
