HANGU: At least five worshippers were killed and 15 others were injured on Friday when two suicide attackers struck a mosque in Northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A senior police official, confirming the twin suicide bombings, revealed that the terrorists targeted the Police Line Mosque located in Doaaba during Friday prayers.
The District Police Officer (DPO) disclosed that the attackers initiated the assault by opening fire, and a valiant police response led to the neutralization of one of the suicide bombers at the mosque’s entrance gate. Unfortunately, the second suicide bomber managed to enter inside the mosque and detonated himself during the final sermon of the Friday prayers.
District Deputy Commissioner Fazl-e-Akbar said that around 30 to 40 people were inside the mosque when the blast occurred and multiple casualties are feared as people were trapped under the debris of the damaged mosque.
