KABUL: As many as twenty-five Afghan citizens including political leaders, officials of former government and legislators have come back to Afghanistan during the last month, a top Afghan official said on Friday.

The spokesperson of the “Commission for the Return and Communications with Former Afghan Officials and Political Figures” Ahmadullah Wassiq said they had left the country following the ex-government collapsed but returned to Afghanistan via the arbitration of the commission. He added that senior officials including ministers, deputy ministers, governors, and directors were among those, who came back to the country.
The commission said that hundreds of former officials and political leaders have taken forms to come back to the country.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Interim Afghan Government, Zabiullah Mujahid said that many people who are in foreign countries are seeking to come back to Afghanistan. He added that the commission’s main purpose is to address the concerns of those, who left the country. The spokesperson assured them that they would welcome them to the country.
An Afghan political figure Mohammad Hakim Torsan said that jobs should also be provided to those people who are returning to Afghanistan. He added that steps should be taken to address challenges of the country.
The commission said that as many as 520 political leaders and ex-officials have returned to the country since the formation of the commission.
