KARACHI: A Traditional Fashion Show has been organized at Pakistan’s port city, Karachi, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Turkiye.
Addressing the event, the Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Karachi, Cemal Sangu, said that the Turkiye and Pakistan have brotherly bounding relations, and it will remain all seasons.
The event, attended by diplomats, government officials, politicians, students, and local elites, showcased the rich cultural heritage of Turkiye.
Dr. Junaid Ali Shah, Sindh Caretaker Minister and chief guest, lauded the Consul General for organizing a splendid event. Cemal Sangu announced a series of celebrations marking the centenary of Turkiye.
Turkiye’s Rich Heritage Illuminated
Highlighting Turkish fashion designers, Consul General Sangu introduced Cemile Gul, born in 1964 in Kutahya, Turkiye. Cemile Gul, renowned for her work in embroidery, collaborated with institutions like Malatya Inonu University and won awards in various competitions across Turkiye.
With a career spanning over 20 years, she taught embroidery to over 3000 women, preserving and modernizing Turkish Embroidery Art.
Cemile Gul’s entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of the ‘CEMILE GUL ART GALLERY’ in Kutahya, contributing to the handicraft economy. Her works, exhibited globally, showcased the modernization of traditional Ottoman-era motifs in clothing and home textiles.
These adaptations were presented at international fairs, exhibitions, and fashion shows, spreading from Germany to Singapore, Libya to the UK, and Austria to Saudi Arabia.
The fashion show celebrated Turkiye’s rich cultural legacy, blending traditional motifs with contemporary designs, reflecting the spirit of the centennial celebrations.
