ISTANBUL: Turkiye and Japan inked a cooperation deal on Tuesday to promote investment, trade, and economic partnership.
The deal, inked by trade ministers in Istanbul, included holding a trade and investment summit, expediting economic partnership, and expanding cooperation in third countries.
Turkish trade minister Omer Bolat said the summit is planned to be held in Tokyo soon, Anadolu Agency reported.
Before the signing ceremony, Bolat and the Japanese minister of economy, trade and industry Yasutoshi Nishimura discussed economic ties between the two countries, the Turkish minister said.
The Japanese minister said that they discussed economic ties comprehensively.
He added that both countries aim to strengthen economic ties to the level of strategic partnership.
Talking about the February twin earthquakes in Turkiye, Nishimura said Japan will contribute to the recovery and reconstruction process in the quake-affected areas.

Japan’s Imports from Turkiye
It is to be noted that Japan mainly imports Textile, apparel, pasta, fishery products, and automotive parts from Turkiye.
Turkish imports from Japan mainly included machinery and equipment, chemicals, automotive products, iron and steel.
More than 250 Japanese companies operate in Turkiye, while Japan has several restaurants run by Turkish nationals in the country.
