ISLAMABAD: The Turkish Embassy in Pakistan on Wednesday voiced its concern regarding the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the revocation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which granted special status to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement issued, the Turkish Embassy emphasized Turkiye’s consistent position, advocating for the resolution of the longstanding dispute between India and Pakistan.
The statement further urged that the source of tension should be immediately addressed based on international law and relevant UN resolutions through diplomatic dialogue and cooperation.
On December 11, 2023, the Indian Supreme Court rejected petitions challenging the revocation of IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019, by Modi’s Hindu nationalist government.
