ISTANBUL: Turkiye and Azerbaijan on Monday appreciated the fruitful cooperation between their military authorities during a meeting between Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gurak and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Azerbaijani presidency said in a statement that Aliyev and Gurak held a meeting in Baku, during which both welcomed the successful development of friendly and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Turkiye in all areas, including the military one, according to Anadolu Agency.
Gurak’s Trip to Azerbaijan
The statement said that both sides emphasized the importance of Gurak’s trip to Azerbaijan, adding that his trip would contribute to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
It said that the sides noted the importance of Azerbaijan’s Victory in the Patriotic War and highlighted the high professionalism and heroism of the Azerbaijani military in achieving that victory.
Earlier this month, Gurak was appointed the new chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.
