Turkish, Syrian, Russian Defense Ministers Discuss Counter-terrorism Efforts

ISLAMABAD: The Turkish, Syrian and Russian defense ministers met in Moscow on Wednesday and discussed counter-terrorism efforts in the region, Turkiye’s Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Thursday.

Akar said that the meeting discussed ways to improve the situation in Syria and the region as soon as possible, while ensuring peace, stability, and tranquility.

He said that Turkiye emphasized its counter-terrorism efforts during the meeting and that it respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all its neighbors, especially Iraq and Syria. Turkiye has the sole aim of fighting terrorism and nothing else. 

Turkiye aims to neutralize terrorists: Turkish minister

Turkish minister also said that it aimed to neutralize ISIS and PKK terrorists, which are a threat to Syria as well. Turkish authorities use the term neutralize to imply the terrorists in question were killed, surrendered or captured.
